When you have crossed the main roads A5074 and A592, a minor road takes you to Ferry Nab just south of Bowness. A frequent ferry service takes you to Sawrey, then the B5285 follows Esthwaite Water and by-passes Hawkshead to the head of Coniston Lake. In Coniston village take the A593 towards Torver.

South Route

Follow directions to Barrow and Ulverston through Newby Bridge to Greenodd. At Greenodd take the right turn A5092 then fork right on the A5084 to Torver. At the T-junction in Torver turn right on the A593 towards Coniston.
